T&C's

I'm taking an unconventional approach to terms and conditions which reward the vast majority of people who are good and kind, but cuts horribleness off at the ankles.

Binding Terms and Conditions

The only guarantees or warranties offered are the minimums as required by UK Law. The machines are sold as a kit that requires partial assembly.

Namely under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for a particular purpose, and as described. As the products contain a high proportion of 3D printed parts and the machines are designed to be low cost entry level hobby machines, the standards for quality should be assumed to be low with visible imperfections and low cost components. The purpose of machines is to spin a disc or wheel (designed to grind stones) such that material can be cut away from a stone.  These criteria are met if a machine is working on arrival.

Additionally consumers in the UK have a 14 day cooling-off period, from the day they received their goods, during which they can cancel their order.

Non-binding terms, aka the "No A'Holes" policy

Any service or warranty is entirely discretionary. I have a well earned reputation of being generous and helpful with customers. But kindness needs to be mutual. This project was completely focused on creating an affordable entry into the lapidary hobby and to hopefully disrupt the incumbent companies into pricing equipment more reasonably. It's not intended to be a profit making business, and the profit made evaporates with the level of support I've historically provided. And that's absolutely fine with me, that's been the idea from the start.

What isn't fine, is people who are unkind or aggressive. Who blame unreasonably, are dishonest, or feel entitled. And those people won't get a second conversation about their existing machine, or indeed be allowed to purchase another.

So the terms put simply are:

Absolute minimum according to UK law, and everything else is discretionary. I understand that's not much of a guarantee on paper, but I hope the stories of others show what this might really mean if it's left to my discretion.
